This is a terrific book, informative and there is a fantastic section which includes Robert Heide's personal memories from his days in the Village and with Andy Warhol. I live in the Village and after reading it my own vista has been enlarged. I strongly recommend it to everyone!

Hardly surprising that this book published in 1995 is slightly out of date. However, unlike the all-singing, all-dancing current crop of Greenwich Guides, the Heide & Gilman offering is chock full of interesting and sometimes quirky facts and wonderful photographs which combine to make a really good guide book, as well as giving Greenwich Village an aroma, vibrancy and character quite unlike elsewhere in the States.
Don't visit The Village without a copy.
